About me
Elaine Townsend has a bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Evansville, a Masters's degree in Biology specialized in Ecological Parasitology from Murray State University, and a 7-12 Chemistry and Biology Teaching License from Trevecca Nazarene University. She has been teaching for 21 years at various schools, with the last 8 being at Plainfield High School. Elaine was the 2024 Teacher of the Year in Plainfield. She has taught high school science including AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Environmental Science, but she has found her groove during the last 8 years teaching PLTW Biomedical Science. The STEM experience in the PLTW classroom allows for any kind of learner to succeed and explore careers and skills utilized in the real world. In addition to classroom teaching, Elaine is the advisor for the HOSA club which gives another outlet to students interested in careers in healthcare fields.
